20 Apr Larry – The Jawbreaker
Just 24 hours ago my wife and I were eating at a restaurant and I noticed a gentleman wearing a particularly nice pair of well-polished cowboy boots. I like cowboy boots. I stepped up to the gentleman, whom I had never seen before, and complimented his boots. He smiled and expressed his appreciation. That was it. Or, at least I thought it was.
My wife and I went ahead and ate. As we were finishing our meal and preparing to leave, this same gentleman approached our table and asked me if I knew what a “jaw breaker” was. “Of course,” I said, “It is a round hard piece of candy.” “No” He said. “You are a jaw breaker!” He proceeded to explain that a jaw buster is anyone who causes another person to smile. And, he said, “You caused me to smile when you complimented my boots.” He then asked me if I knew who the greatest jaw breaker ever was. I should have known the answer. I didn’t. I said, “No, I don’t.” He said, “It is the Lord Jesus Christ. Because He helps us and comforts us and loves us, He causes us to smile.” “I like that.” I responded.
End of story, right? No! He handed me a round hard piece of candy and told me not to eat it but to place it in my pocket so every time I put my hand in my pocket, I would touch the candy and think about Jesus and smile. He went on to tell me he had passed out over 4,000 pieces of this hard candy and that he personally knew of 100 people that he had handed the candy to that went on to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. WOW!
What a testimony.
How many people have you helped smile or maybe think about Jesus, and even accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior?
